MOSHI'S STORY
Moshi is the name of our beloved Portuguese water dog. For more than nine years she was a happy, healthy, and fun-loving puppy. She had a seemingly limitless supply of energy with a bounce in her step and her nose in everyone's business.
That all changed in July of 2014. After taking her to the vet to get her distemper shots, I was giving her a belly rub and noticed a dark red rash. I immediately called her doctor and took her in that same day. By the time I got there her eyes were almost completely red. The doctor took one look at her and delivered a blow we will never forget. She was bleeding out. The next 24 hours was a blur. She was rushed to an emergency hospital. Life-saving measures were performed and she was loaded with meds.
Eight months later, she is still with us, but it has been a long haul, both emotionally and financially. It has been difficult with the meds and constant lab work to monitor her body's destruction of platelets. And the stack of bills is still growing.
During this crazy emotional roller coaster, I started making little "blooms" out of fabric for Moshi to wear on her collar. I wanted to add some cheerful color to her appearance as she had lost a lot of hair due to the medications. I started making more and more of these "blooms" for her to wear. It was kind of therapeutic.
So many people started asking about Moshi's blooms that I thought our son could sell them to raise money for his upcoming missions trip to Haiti. I made a bunch of Moshi Blooms for him to sell. In five days, he sold enough to finish paying for his trip to help build a school in Haiti!
What we discovered is that not only did people enjoy these colorful collar attachments, but they also had fun finding new ways to wear them and attach them to all kinds of things. The hook-and-loop ring on the back makes it quick and easy to fasten them to nearly anything. People were attaching the blooms to their purses, pens, scarves, ponytails, hats, shoes, and yes, dog and cat collars.
So now we are making and selling them to help pay for the medical care that Moshi needs. She is slowly getting better, but we have a long way to go. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. And Moshi thanks you too!
Sincerely,
The Pradel Family
March 20, 2016 Update
Moshi has made it into remission! We feel so blessed to have not lost her during this battle. It will take time for her body to recover from the treatment. After suffering through pancreatitis and skin infections it has been determined she may be left with Cushings Disease. Her Medical journey continues and in spite of it all, she is happy, playful, and the love of our lives. Relapse is common so we are so grateful for each day!

Happy New Year 2017! Our girl Moshi is still doing well! She suffers with stiffness in her back hips from the long term treatment during the active phase of her disease. We are starting Hydro Therapy this month in hopes that she can maintain a med free, pain free life as long as possible. She is also going to a canine chiropractor next Friday. She never waivers on filling our hearts with Joy and love! If it is even possible, she gets sweeter with age! Here are some updated pictures for 2017.
